NorCo Rush’s Tommy Roth Awarded CSA Male Youth Referee of the Year
Northern Colorado Rush Soccer Club (NorCo Rush) is proud to announce that Tommy Roth has been Awarded the Colorado Soccer Association’s (CSA) “Ron Loos Male Youth Referee of the Year.”
CSA and the Colorado Referee Committee annually recognizes the top young male and female referees in Colorado Soccer with the Youth Referee of the Year award. Recipients of this award are honored for their accomplishments as a referee, student and member of the community.
“I became a referee at the age of 12 through the help of Lynda McManus, a very friendly lady that works for my local Soccer club,” Roth states. “Prior to that I had been playing soccer since the age of 6. Throughout all of my youth games, I always looked up to the refs and thought what they were doing was fascinating and that I really wanted to become a ref myself. With all of this put together, one day at my practice, my mom and I ran into Lynda who helped get me set up. Suddenly the thing that started as a random interest, led me to a journey of close to 6 years of officiating. Beyond officiating, I find myself practicing or playing soccer almost every chance I get. My love for the sport is undeniably strong,” stated Roth.
Jeff Johnson, head of the delegation at Far West Presidents Cup, presented Roth at the CSA Annual General Membership Referee Meeting. He will also be recognized at the CSA Annual Banquet in May.
Those honored are working the highest level tournaments (State Cup and President’s Cup) in the state during the nomination process and preparing/eligible to attend Far West Regionals and/or Far West Regional Presidents’ Cup in June if selected as the Colorado Young Referee of The Year.
“Tommy is an outstanding role model and a tremendous asset to the game. The communication, management, and leadership skills he has honed as a referee will serve him well. I am extremely proud of Tommy . . . congratulations – well deserved,” says Lynda McManus, NorCo Rush’s Director of Operations and Former Referee Assignor.
Matt Foster, NorCo Rush’s Director of Coaching, states: “Tommy is a pleasure to coach. He comes to every practice and game with a great work ethic, he respects his coaches, teammates and this award shows what a great young man he is. I am immensely proud of him.”
